Foxconn adopts Google machine learning to produce automatic detection systems for production line

According to CNA's report today, Foxconn used Google's machine learning program as the basis to produce an automatic detection system for the production line, which greatly reduced the defect rate of smartphone parts and significantly reduced the inspection time.

According to information released by Google, Foxconn has recently cooperated with the Google cloud team to understand visual inspection (VisualInspecTIon) technology and automated machine learning tools (CloudAutoML). After mastering these technologies, Foxconn can improve the product quality in its production process.

For example, in the production line of smartphones, the automatic defect detection tools for printed circuit boards (PCBs) are critical to the quality of the final products, so Foxconn has always been paying attention. Since April last year, Foxconn has adopted an automatic detection system based on Google's automated machine learning tools. Foxconn has stated in related reports that through Google's automatic inspection system, the defect escape rate of printed circuit boards has dropped to 10%, and the average inspection time for each part has been significantly reduced to 0.3 seconds. This is why Foxconn continues to cooperate with Google.

It is understood that Foxconn has also made new progress in the mobile phone business. American manufacturer Sonim Technologies recently announced that it is cooperating with Foxconn to manufacture rugged smartphones. Related products will be manufactured in Foxconn's Vietnam factory and are expected to come out in the third quarter of this year.

In addition to mobile phones, Foxconn continues to deploy 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Internet of Vehicles (Internet of Vehicles). This year, it will continue to recruit technical professionals. For example, it will launch the 2021 Spring School Recruitment at the Shenzhen factory in Guangdong, China. Full-time engineers in mechanics, electronics, and AI algorithms.

It is understood that Foxconn is planning to become a major mobile phone manufacturing base in northern China with its Langfang factory in Hebei Province. The second and third phases of land construction will be planned subsequently. The total number of employees will reach 150,000 by then, and the wireless communication organization product business group (WLBG) and network connections will be expanded. Product Business Group (NWInG).

From a client perspective, industry sources pointed out that Foxconn operates mobile phone brands such as Nokia and Infocus; major automotive electronics customers include Baidu, Geely Automobile, Yutong Automobile, etc.; mobile phone manufacturing customers include Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO. Google, Microsoft, and Amazon are also Foxconn customers.
